St. Joseph Plantation

The newest attraction along the Great River Road. Described by many as the most authentic plantation tour. A raised Creole plantation built c1830.

Take a walk through time and hear about the many interesting families who have called this plantation home. Tour the mansion principale given as a wedding gift by the “Louis XIV of Louisiana” to his daughter, fully furnished and with a full staff of slaves.

Detached kitchen, blacksmith and carpenter shop and original slave cabins. Lovingly restored by the family who has owned this working sugarcane plantation for 130 years. Many of the guides are family members themselves.
